Bret Goebel is your hospital's reimbursement resource. His experience with the Medicare program began in 1983 performing base year cost report audits. Mr. Goebel is expert in all aspects of cost report preparation and defense of the cost report at audit. He is also expert in estimating cost report reserves as well as the value of patient accounts receivable. Mr. Goebel specializes in small, rural hospitals including Critical Access Hospitals and Sole Community Hospitals. My approach to Revenue Cycle Management is all encompassing as the revenue cycle touches on all areas where any data relative to the patient's demographic, charge, diagnosis/procedure, and claims data is present. I examine a client's Revenue Cycle from an organizational perspective. The actual Revenue Cycle begins prior to a patient's treatment, continues through the treatment process itself and culminates following the completion of the patient encounter. My Revenue Cycle improvement services include analysis and business process redesign of any components impacting the proper capture, reporting, coding, processing and transfer of data. My involvement in this effort ensures the application of "best practices" within the unique context and requirements of each client organization. My experience indicates that it is often advantageous to follow the patient flow beginning with all patient access points in order to correctly obtain information while the patient is in-house. Correctly performed functions upfront result in less rework, timelier turnaround of bills, happier customers, and staff that are treated more professionally by others. In other words, clean claims get paid faster.
